Partners

Because much of this book is written from the perspective of a heterosexual father speaking to his heterosexual sons, some of the dating and marriage advice won’t match the experiences of gay readers. Some of the guidance will obviously not apply to your relationships. That does not make the underlying principles any less relevant: choose a partner of good character; look for honesty, loyalty, affection and mutual respect; maintain your independence and boundaries; be faithful; never tolerate abuse or contempt; and, above all, choose someone with whom you can build a good life.
